Yasir ole running ass pissed me off instead of facing everything head on. He handled things all wrong. I felt bad for Ariane and knew the love she held for Yaya was stronger than ever. Yasir and Ariane both had issues to work on and were very childish at times. As for Alia, I just wanted anybody to drag her because she took trifling to all new heights. How she expected things to go back to how they once were was beyond me. Greed got her way more than she bargained for. I so loved Skylar and Ty's relationship. She had his back through it all and stepped up in a major way. Mar and Tika were a trip. Oh Dontae tried it. It was long overdue for him to put his ego to the side and take care of his responsibilities. But the way he tried handling Caprice in the beginning without reading was too funny. Dawn switched it up and I was glad Shad was the one to make her see things differently. That heffa Paige was on one and karma paid her back dearly. Through the heartache, creeping, lies, blackmail, and scheming these dysfunctional lovers finally got it together to get their happily ever after.

Relationships were brought together throughout this whole book. Ty's baby mama isn't worth two cents. I wanted to reach through this book and touch her! She was so money hungry! Ariane and Yasir were something else. Lol. Ariene most definitely held the title of QUEEN PETTY! She played games all because of jealousy! Dawn shocked me so much in this book. Skylar was by Ty's side all the way through. She loved Tyliah like she gave birth to her. Caprice and Patrick played around but they both knew where their hearts belonged!!! Donte finally got it together. Karma came for a couple people. These were most definitely some DYSFUNCTIONAL LOVERS, but in the end everyone was where they belonged!!! Yo Loni seriously did her thing with this series. Worth the wait!

But also a book that can keep you interested from beginning to end. Megan eventually lost her mind and did the unthinkable. Sabrina ended up playing herself by trying to be slick but it backfired. Paige and Vince should've known that sooner or later their scheming was going to catch up with them. Dawn shocked me but sometimes change is good. Alia was lowdown and dirty. However greed, envy and being scandalous was her downfall. Ariane and Yasir has been through a lot but when the truth was revealed. They still had a few hurdles to overcome. It was great to see how Skylar had Ty back with everything he was going through. It was about time Caprice made up her confused little mind although she really didn't have a choice.

Alex Tremain is a pirate in trouble. All he really wants is to reopen his parents' five-star hotel on the Island of Dreams, off the coast of Mozambique. But instead he's facing a mounting tide of debt, his crew of modern-day buccaneers is getting restless, and he has just been dumped by not one, but two women.

As if he doesn't have enough on his plate, a chance raid on a ship then sets the Chinese triads after him and, to add insult to injury, corporate lawyer Jane Humphries lands, literally, in his lap…

Before he knows it, Alex is embroiled in two separate and equally risky pursuits—one takes him to South Africa's Kruger National Park and will pay enough for him to reopen his hotel, and the other involves the love of a lifetime. Can Alex pull off this one last heist and walk away with both prizes?

Of COURSE his stories are totally implausible...but that doesn't mean you can't lose yourself in the story line as it unfolds and just carries you along at breakneck speed. I wish his books were easier to find here in the US!

Cheesy (3.5 stars) By TChris Alex Tremain is a good looking pirate, a kind-hearted rogue with a sad background, making him the kind of bad boy that seems destined to star in a trashy romance novel. Unsurprisingly, the key female character, Jane, is attracted to him, even after his pirate gang hijacks the cargo ship that is bringing her to Johannesburg and kidnaps her in the belief that she is holding valuable treasure. Jane doesn’t know the nature of the treasure, but she has a hunch it belongs to her wealthy employer, with whom she is having an affair.Naturally, Alex’s good nature is at odds with a more evil pirate in his crew, the kind of pirate who thinks that Jane should be tortured in predictable ways. And naturally, as a kind-hearted rogue, Alex would rather con women than torture them, leading to a predictable conflict with the evil pirate who turns into one of the novel’s chief villains.Alex is too contrived to be a believable character. He is a socially and ecologically conscious pirate who won’t smuggle people or drugs or timber or wildlife. In fact, he secretly reports illegal fishing vessels to the police, because illegal fishing is much worse than boarding vessels and stealing from everyone on board. His desire to “start afresh as an honest man” doesn’t ring true because Alex is too honest and decent to have gone into the piracy business in the first place. I’ve enjoyed many novels in which the protagonist is a thief or other brand of criminal, but they are usually lighter fare, not meant to be taken seriously. Tony Park never convinced me that Alex was anything other than the stereotypical (and mythical) “bad boy” of romance fiction, the kind that women can feel safe about loving since they know he won’t actually hurt anyone. Or, at least, he’ll only hurt people who deserve it. Is there a bigger cliché in fiction?Jane is also a stereotype. She’s in love with her married boss, one of those hopeless situations that can only be resolved by falling in love with a dashing pirate. She feels “a jolt of electricity” when Alex brushes his fingers against her arm and “her heart was pounding fast” after Alex tells her “I only have eyes for you.” Too many cheesy lines like that are a disappointment in a novel that is otherwise capably written. The cheesy parts of Ivory are too predictably cheesy. Alex sees in Jane a reason to “redeem his wasted life.” Everything that happens between them so predictable, and described in such torrid detail, that I had to check to see if I had chosen to read a “new adult romance” by mistake. Ivory isn’t marketed that way, but it is more a tawdry romance novel than it is a thriller.I liked the descriptions of Mozambique and South Africa. The novel works relatively well when it sticks to action scenes, although even then Park takes a series of missteps. The biggest involves an elephant hunt that has Alex encountering an elephant he remembers from his childhood, all so that we can see once more what a great guy Alex is. Seriously? The valuable treasure that Alex is pursuing from Jane borders on the ridiculous, but it is in keeping with the plot as a whole. That “surprise” was the final straw that kept me from recommending this novel, at least to thriller fans. I suspect that romance fiction fans will like it, but I can’t give it more than 3 1/2 stars.

What makes them special is that they are set in Africa, a continent that this Australian writer has come to know and love. This is one of his early works which I enjoyed revisiting again.Alex Tremain was born in Mozambique in Southern Africa and the family ran a luxury hotel on a beautiful island just off the coast in Mozambique. When civil war came to the country the hotel was ransacked by the rebels and the locals. Alex went off to war and joined the South African army. When peace returned Alex vowed to rebuild the hotel into a luxury resort again - but the main problem was money. So Alex and some friends become pirates, ambushing ships on the high seas and stealing building materials or goods that could be sold easily.Jane Humphries is a successful corporate lawyer with a large UK shipping company who is having an affair with her married boss, George Penfold, who promises her that he will leave his wife. Jane is scared stiff of flying and George arranges for her to go to an important meeting in Cape Town by sea on his flagship container ship, MV Penfold Son. En route the ship picks up a mysterious group of security people who act like mercenaries. By chance while Alex and his crew are tracking a Chinese ship they witness a rendezvous with Penfold Son where a mysterious package changes hands. When Alex boards the Penfold Son to find the package they are met with strong opposition from security. The Captain hands the package to Jane and tells her to guard it with her life. She hides in a the ship's lifeboat and is joined by Alex and his team as they escape from the ship. After recovering from becoming unconscious after a dangerous lifeboat launch, Jane has to come to grips with the fact that her charming and handsome host at the partly restored hotel is a notorious pirate. She also has to come to grips with the fact that her charming boss is sending his vicious security team to find her and the mysterious package. At the same time she becomes increasingly attracted to Alex.Meanwhile Alex still needs more money to complete the hotel restoration and does a deal with an unscrupulous Chinese to steal a huge amount of legally culled ivory from under the noses of the South African military.Sounds complex doesn't it? Yes it is very complex and a bit overboard (forgive the potentially maritime pun) but as long as you don't take it too seriously it is an exciting, page-turning adventure set against the interesting wildlife background of Southern Africa.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fun way to learn Italian By Amazon Customer This is a really fun way to learn -- or try and learn -- Italian. Rather than translate line by line, or word by word, I am able to get the flavor of the text by tackling a whole chapter. And it is easy to switch back and forth, in case midway through you want to check your comprehension. I can imagine this kind of book (and ones like it) will add to the tools that people use to learn a second language.
